I published my last homepage two years ago, in march 2003. For a pretty long time it has felt old och worn. Unfortunately I've not had inspiration nor strength to create a new one. Until now.
Five days ago I started from scratch with this new homepage and since then I've worked almost full time with it. I guess the inspiration came from the very nice trip to Egypt.
Some words about news and improvements with this website:
- Multi-language (english and swedish).
- It follows the HTML 4.01 web standards of http://www.w3.org.
- Visitors are able to comment pictures, videoclips, diaries, etc.
- Travel diary functionality which is handy when I'm travelling.
- More logical and easy to get around in.
- Easy for me to update (database-driven, automatic "thumbnailing", etc)
- "Liked" by search engines (ex: paths to subpages).
- Easy on the client (by size and by minimal javascript).
- No extra windows opens without notice in some way.

Lots has been added and more is to come. Especially the HK/TH trip will see more pictures. Also sound and video clips to be added to Egypt 2005.

When reading a diary you can see all the pictures published the same day. The pictures will be displayed as thumbnails to the right of the diary text. Clicking on a thumbnail will take you to that picture's page.

At march 24th the webserver that hosted this page somehow died. I don't exactly know the cause but something happened when it was being connected to an UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply).
Anyway, the server is now replaced with a "new" one. It's an old home PC from Dell. It's nice to see that I got use for that old machine.
Now, let's hope that it will be a long time until next time anything gets broken.

Since the functionality of this homepage is almost finished I am soon beginning to do the design. I have some ideas I hope to be able to realise. While waiting for the complete new design I made a graphics logo and a new color scheme. I also moved the language choices to the category menu side.

A couple of the most recent updates:
New category
- London. This one will, while travelling, be filled with text and pictures.
The front page
- Coming up with info when a new journey is getting closer.
- Ongoing trip is shown on frontpage while out travelling.
Travel diaries
- The "( )" after the travel diaries informs about the number of pics/video/sounds that has been written at the specific day.
- Chosing a travel diary now marks the travel diary with a bright colour.
- Pics/video/sounds from a certain diary day is moved to beneath the diary texts.
Egypt
- All the diary texts is now available in english.
- I've added some more photos from the trip. Among the additions is a pictures of the "real" size of the Sphinx, some hotel room pics and more.

The homepage has now been converted from an old fashion table layout to a CSS/Div-layout. In appearence there are no major differences but under the hood there are major differences. Because the content is now separated from the presentation the future designs of the page will be made with minimal coding which saves lots of time for me.

A couple of other updates:
- Printer friendly pages will be automatically created when printing.
- Text is now possible to size up/down by browsers (Example: Internet Explorer: VIEW -> Text Size -> Larger)
- The random comments on the front page was removed and was replaced by an extra row of random photos.

I've created a little web video player. So now you can watch my video clips online without downloading them to your hard drive (that option is still available though for those of you who want higher quality).
The player was created in Flash. A plugin that most people already have installed.
