(travel diary) Forbidden city and swedish food

Category: China, 2006
Started the day with one of the activities you more or less have to do when in Beijing -- I am talking about visiting the Forbidden City. For a half century common people haven't been able to go inside the walls. Nowadays many people do... Lots of tourists.
The buildings inside the Forbidden City shared many similarities with the temple buildings we've seen earlier on our China trip in Luoyang, Pingyao, etc.

In the evening, it was time for one of the highlighs in China: the swedish bar W-bar run by the swedish master of ping pong J-O Waldner together with two other swedish athletes. We started with a tasty dinner: swedish meatballs, real mashed potatoes and lingonberry preserve. Yummy! After dinner we used the bar's facilities: the ping pong table, the hockey game and the fussball game.

How to get to the W-bar (116 San Li Tun Nan Lu, Beijing):
Take the underground to Dong Si Shi Tiao. Walk east along the Gong Ren Tiy Chang Bei Lu. After about 1-2km you reach the road San Li Tun Lu. Walk south along this street and soon you'll have W-bar on your left.

Another tip: Along the Gong Ren Tiy Chang Bei Lu there is a Subway (sandwiches). These are not too usual here in Beijing. We never got the chance to try this one, but we often wished that it was located closer to our hotel (good for breakfast!).
